　1970 年 Eric Clapton 加入 Derek and the Dominos，宇宙無敵超級偉大專輯" Layla "出現了！這張專輯特別要請 Duane Allman 助陣。在這張專輯中 Clapton 徹底傾訴了自己對好友George Harrison（披頭四吉他手）之妻 Pattie 的愛意及畸戀中自己的痛苦。

　曠世鉅作" Layla "一曲中，Duane Allman 彈奏 slide guitar，Clapton 嘶喊絕望的歌聲，兩人對飆 solo，到後段氣氛一轉，鋼琴與吉他以優美感傷的旋律收尾。Duane Allman 在不久後因車禍去世，使" Layla "更顯得珍貴，" Layla "可說是 Clapton一生中巔峰之作。
