" The star of the County Down "是一首愛爾蘭民謠，故事背景發生在北愛爾蘭的道恩郡。道恩郡位於愛爾蘭島最東邊、北愛爾蘭東南部。 　這首歌的歌詞由 Cathal McGarvey (1866–1927) 填寫，描述一位年輕人遇見了名叫 Rosie McCann的美麗少女，不禁為她神魂顛倒，比喻她為「道恩郡之星」，幾次短暫的交會之後，甚至幻想她成為自己的新娘。 　常聽愛爾蘭民謠的朋友會覺得這首歌的旋律似曾相識，因為這首歌的曲調曾被多首民謠借用，例如" My love Nell "。這首歌也是一首愛爾蘭民謠，歌詞訴說年輕男子追求一位女孩 Nell，最後心碎收場，因為女孩移民到美國去了。兩首歌的相似處是那位 Nell 也是來自道恩郡。 　好幾首聖詩也是採用這首歌的旋律填詞而成，如" Kingsfold "、" I heard the voice of Jesus say "；還有一首民謠" Dives and Lazarus 富人與窮人"也是源自相同旋律。1939 年，紐約舉辦世界博覽會，英國作曲家佛漢威廉士受英國政府委託譜寫樂曲參展，他便以" Dives and Lazarus "為主題，完成管弦樂曲" Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus 富人與窮人的五個變奏 "，同年六月十日由 Adrian Boult 指揮紐約愛樂管弦樂團於卡內基廳做全球首演。 　老實說，在老安聽過的許多愛爾蘭民謠中，並沒有特別喜歡" The star of the County Down "。直到最近購入加拿大女歌手 Loreena McKennitt 羅琳娜·麥肯妮的精選輯，才又注意到了這首歌。 　羅琳娜·麥肯妮( Loreena Isabel Irene McKennitt，1957.02.17 ~ )，集歌手、作曲家、豎琴手、鋼琴手於一身。她創作、表演居爾特和中東風格的世界音樂，也常以英、美地區的詩人作品譜曲。羅琳娜·麥肯妮 1985 年出道，老安從 90 年代起追蹤她的唱片十餘年方歇，國內歌手齊豫曾翻唱她的創作" All souls night "。 　這幾年又突然想起這位優秀的作曲家歌手，找到她 2014 年發行的精選( 封面如右 )，豪華版第二張 CD 中的歌曲皆為她在各地巡演的現場錄音，呈現她高超的演唱實力，" The star of the County Down "這首歌尤其打動老安內心，我查了從前蒐藏的 CD，並未發現這首歌的蹤影，上網查詢才知道她在 2010 年的專輯《 The Wind That Shakes The Barley 吹動大麥的風》唱過這首歌。 　網頁下方羅列這首歌的其他版本，請您聆聽後告訴老安，為何羅琳娜·麥肯妮的版本就是比較動聽？
