 瑞典的四人團體 ABBA，老安最愛的西洋團體，這首" The piper "出自該團老安最愛的專輯《 Super Trouper 超級馬戲團員 》。這張專輯台灣代理公司最早翻成" 超級演員 "是不正確的，因為專輯封面拍攝內容的就是馬戲團。 負責作詞的團員比恩烏爾韋斯( Björn Ulvaeus )表示，" The piper "的原始靈感來自恐怖大師史蒂芬金的小說《 The Stand 末日逼近 》。 《 末日逼近 》是關於世界末日的故事，原型來自他 1978 年出版的《 玉米田的孩子 》中的一篇短篇小說，但該版本被出版社刪減了超過 400 頁。 1980 年，史蒂芬金不甘被大幅刪減，恢復篇幅重新出版成一部長篇小說，並將背景更改設定在 1985 年，故事敘述美國暗中研究新型流感做為軍事用途，結果病毒外洩造成全球 99.4 % 的人口死亡。倖存的人們分成兩派，兩方的精神領袖相互猜忌，都想消滅對方。 比恩烏爾韋斯寫的歌詞又明顯取材《 格林童話 》裡著名的 「哈米倫的吹笛人」。 1284 年，哈米倫市鼠患嚴重，市民公開懸賞，只要有人能除去鼠患必有重賞。不久來了一位吹笛人，他吹起夢幻般的音樂，全城的老鼠彷彿被催眠一般，隨著笛聲通通跳進了河裡，鼠患於是宣告解除。 沒想到事過之後，哈米倫市民不願信守承諾，拒絕給付酬勞給吹笛人。吹笛人一氣之下，再度吹起有魔力的笛音，這回跟在他身後起舞的卻是全城所有小孩，市民眼睜睜看著孩子跟著吹笛人走出城外，從此一去不返，但後悔也來不及了。 " The piper "的編曲運用小鼓、短笛、合唱，使整首歌充滿中古世紀風情，和 ABBA 過往的作品明顯不同。這首歌雖未發行為單曲，歷年來也未被選入精選輯，但製作水準精良，是老安的最愛之一。 |
